Shop quotes me $500 just to program the ABS module on my 08 SS and I'm wondering if that's reasonable. A shop replaced my module but they don't have a way to VIN match it. A bit tough to get a place to program it. I now know I could have just sent it for rebuilding but I didn't know that at the time. Car runs fine but ABS light is still on. Thanks.
That is ridiculous. Call a GM dealership, the cost should be about 1 hour labor. The problem with an independent shop is that they need to pay for the firmware subscription... if they know how to use it. That price is basically saying "we don't want to do it, go away".

If you can wait for it you can send it to Flash Masters and they can do it for less. A lot less.

I wish I knew this before installing it. The shop has already installed it and so my only option now is to have it programmed. Not sure how difficult it is to remove it. Thanks.
An electrical connector, 3 bolts, a skinned knuckle. There are 8 O-rings between the 2 pieces that should be replaced. No special procedure beyond don't let dirt get into anything and use rubbing alcohol to clean the O-rings.
Torque y\the bolts to 20 Lb INCH, not very tight.
Why was it replaced?
I circled the EBCM part the other part is the (BPMV) valving. The black part in the pic is the EBCM.
