Not all 5 speed HHR SS's had LSD, but if it has stock Brembo's it will have a LSD transmission. As mentioned above it was a performance package.
The only way you could get Brembos without the LSD package was install them yourself.

If he says he took the Brembo's off, I would definetly want to see G85 to know it has LSD.

Well just got word that no G85 code is found in the glovebox (unless he is not looking well) sooooooo I'm a 40 year old fart that will not take it to the drag strip, not exit corners at 6g under hard throttle and will not do 0-60 times (ok...maybe once or twice)...I just love punching the throttle in 2nd or third and accelerate from there.....Do I absolutely have to have the LSD ????

I have never driven the non-LSD SS to compare the difference.... however, LSD sytems have very clear benefits over open diffs in terms of traction leading to better performance...

If the price is right on your intended purchase, you could use the savings and have the LSD installed.... I have no idea what this would cost though. Some others on the forum might know....

No...I dont have it and am pretty frisky with the car, yet i have not run intoa situation where I actually "needed" it..even in bad weather ( gotta love traction control)

Seems like it's something that you really want, so don't talk yourself out of it.

This is one of my personal quirks, but it's one of my "must haves". Most of my vehicles have it (current 2002 S10 Pickup, 1987 Silverado and my former S10 Blazer) and it was a must when I was looking for a 5-speed SS. As another old fart, it brings back memories when I can create those 2 black stripes on the pavement of a desolate, back country road. Anything less would have been less in my book. I bought preowed (6700 mi), but was patient and waited for the right one.

LSD on SS

My understanding is that for 2009-10 SS, Brembo brakes and LSD were only availble together as the optional "performance package." On 2008 SS, Brembo was not available and LSD was a separate option. Did I get it right?
