5 speed 2010 SS Problem
5 speed 2010 SS Problem
Hey all,
New to the forums..just picked up my 2010 SS turbo. I love this car. However, while merging on the highway the other day, I shifted from 3rd to 4th and the gear shift moved to 4th, but when I let the clutch out I was still in Nuetral. It happens a few times. I took it to the dealer, and they couldn't find anything wrong. I road tested it with the tech and it didn't do it. The tech said in a bulletin, that some HHR SS left the factory with a pin that held the linkage together for assembly, and were supposed to be removed. The dealer thought I broke the pin off, and it was now fine. I took the car back and drove it a few days..I decided on the highway again to wind it out a little and 3rd to 4th, it did it again!
Has anyone else had this problem? Is their a fix I and the dealer are missing? Do I lemon law this thing? It has 750 miles on it.
Thanks in advance

You can pull the little tray in the front of the center consoul and see the clips for the shifter linkages/cables... check to see if they are tight... heres a pics to show ya, its the off-white squares on the left side of the pic. They hinge up and clip down.

It's a tight fit but you can reach them if you pull out the silver section under where you see pennies in this pic

If they are coming loose, the dealer should replace them. In the mean time you could zip tie around each one as well.
Then consider doing a TWM short throw shifter to boot.

The dealer should fix this! While I would agree that going to the TWM short shifter (and properly adjusting the shifter) is a great upgrade, you should get this fixed first, just in case it is something beyond the most likely shift cable adjustment.
In other words, if you have a bad clip, it should be replaced under warranty, if you do a new shifter upgrade and still have a bad clip it would likely be difficult to obtain a warranty repair.
