Put the clutch down, shift into first, gas pedal to the floor, rpm holds at 4100 then hold on and dump the clutch. Kept the pedal to the metal until the shift light turned red and slammed second gear. What happened: first gear start left two black tire marks for 10 feet and when second hit, two smaller black marks and then I had to back off as I was running out of road on the small oval road in a development. My main reason for doing it was to make sure I really had the LSD as there was nothing in the service manual about it. The dealer printed me out an exploded part drawing based on my VIN number which shows the makeup of the LSD in the SS.
If you have the brembos on the SS then you have the LSD

From my experience with Launch Control.... Hold down the brake, hold down the gas, take foot off brake, steer slightly left

I havent really seriously tried it and paid attention but, does it modify shift points? Maybe?

From what I have experienced the only shift point change is in first. If you are spinning even just a little the car will short shift first at 4,500 RPM. Other than than I haven't seen any difference.

Thanks Asanti. I haven't played with it. Now it's winter... so well... life sucks.

Is there a way to reprogram it on an automatic? make it work off the brake pedal? I would love to have it launch at 2.4k rpm at the drag strip for some nice consistent launches....

Maybe vince from Trifecta could do something like that.. 4100 is too high for the automatic. i was thinking something like dropping the launch rev limiter to 2200 to 2400

I've learned that (so far) the best mod for the Launch Control is the Driver mod... Launching an automatic from 4100 rpm is useless even at the track because all we'll do is spin into oblivion, wait for the "bog and shift into 2nd", spin some more then go like hell. If you want to impress the "hard parking crowd" on a saturday night then light 'em up + knock yourself out but I've found that launching at 2200-2600 rpm's has worked best for me. I've run pretty consistent times at the track launching that way AND it's not hell on the drivetrain. Launching from 4100 rpm's my "best" time was a 15.xx; launching from roughly 2300 rpm's I've run a best of 14.03 @ 99.87mph on our OE tires and 14.21 @ 99.34 mph w/ all the stereo equipment + Dynamat in the SS. I'm still untuned too. Just food for thought.

This is what I find too.

The best thing is to learn the points at where the tires want to break loose. Then just work the gas.

Good driver feel is the best way to launch.

Giving any car hell off the line with out the proper set up to take advantage of it is just a time waster. The key is to give it as much gas as you can with out letting the tires go up in smoke. And the best way to do this is learn the car well and use the seat of the pants feel.

Is this only for the SS? doest the 2LT have no lift to shift? I have a 5-speed and have never seen the shift light if there is one... or am I not revving high enough for it to come on? I have been shifting at 4-4.5k between gears...
