belt squaling when a/c turned on?
belt squaling when a/c turned on?
On my 09 Hhr ss when I turn on the a/c the belt squeals only when I take off from a low rpm in park at a light.
Another words If you are driving along even at 10 MPH and you turn the ac on no noise.
But If it is on and you stop at a light then accelerate away from the light it will squeal for about a second.
I was going to just change the belt But after reading on here I see it could be
Ac pump
Ac clutch
Tensioner etc.
Just wondering what others have found in tjis situation.
56000 miles.
Maybe I will have dealer look at since it's under warranty But I really don't want to pay $100 for a belt change

Ya I remember changing the one on my 07 2.4l (traded in for SS)
It seemed to take forever finally I got it on then come to find out after cross referencing the numbers that that Advance auto gave me the wrong one. My car was built in 4/07
Come to find out 08 and up took a 1/2" longer belt swapped the belt in 5 minutes.
Just changed a belt on a customers ford taurus.that was squealing like crazy the belt did not have much mileage but it had age against it.
I was more asking I guess if people have found that with the HHR's , the SS's in particular have issues with ac pumps or idlers more than just belts.
If there is nothing that really stands out then I guess it makes sense to swap a belt out and go from there.

Hmmm interesting. My car will only move forward from a stop light in D, I or L. Guess I better have it checked.
(j/k, ya know).
