Difficulty identifying leaking turbo oil line part number
Difficulty identifying leaking turbo oil line part number
Hey Guys,
I hope someone can help. My 2008 HHR SS has started leaking at a pipe which I believe to be Part number 12654315. when I went to check part availability, my VIN was rejected. I checked the part number against the 2009 HHR SS and of course it was legitimate and would fit. My question is; were there any significant piping changes made to the Turbo system on a 2009 model year as opposed to the 2008 or am I just caught in a mid year production change (2008) which is not properly documented? If the latter is the case, is it safe to assume that purchasing parts based on a 2009 model year would work? I did order #12654315 and was contacted by the seller who proceeded to tell me that the pipe would not fit and that I would need this number instead #126224404. Very Confused.
Thanks
Glenn

12654315 shows to be for Buick Verano.
12622404(you had an extra 4 in there) this site shows it as the oil feed pipe https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-p...omponents-scat
While this site calls it the oil drain pipe https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.c.../12622404.html
Hopefully the diagram in the first link helps you identify whichever part it is that you need.
It's more likely to be a banjo fitting that is leaking, than the pipe itself.
EDIT: pretty sure 12622404 is oil feed. (#5)
12612815 is oil drain (#7)
12626611 is coolant feed (#8)
12618773 is coolant return (#6)
The seal for the banjo bolts is 12626102
further search does seem to indicate that your first part number(12654315) fits 2009 HHR, but not 2008. So, yes there may have been some slight change.

If it is a banjo leaking try a new copper washer. That is listed.
12618973 is the 2009 oil/coolant line looks identical to me
But it looks like you may be looking at the wrong part. One problem is that they lump oil and coolant into 1 category in regard to the turbo.

Hi Gents,
I really appreciate your assistance. Unfortunately, the Banjo bolts are not the issue. It is a pipe that has developed a hole due to rusting. The drain pipe to the crank case also needs to be replaced as it is looking awful with a crusty rusted surface.
My confusion comes from the number of revisions to the 625 pipe shown in the diagram below. This part number 126224404 seems to only apply to the 2008 HHR SS and no other years. That is why I was wondering if any information exists regarding the differences between LNF engines. I have photo's but they really are not worth posting as it is not a large enough angle to show everything.

Just my opinion but I'll bet either one would work. It's probably just a revised or improved part for the 09-10 and thus got a different part number.
Same LNF engine and turbo for all 3 years so the newer part should physically bolt up and fit the same.
If it doesn't, then you'd just have to find the other one.

Like I said, donbrew's post confirms the part numbers for both oil lines for 2008. Nobody is going to know about such a minor design change. Maybe other part numbers work, maybe they won't. Your best chance for success is to stick with the proper parts.
