Emission Problem
Hi all: I am having trouble passing emission test with the 09 HHR SS. Have replace both oxygen sensors and check engine light went off. Drove it for 4 days and retested and failed. Was told to drive again. Hsave gone a total of 4 times but still fail. The read out sheet states the evaporative system is not ready. The Oxygen sensor is not ready. The heated O2 sensor is ready. The Diagnostic Trouble Codes 0. Don't know what to do. I have 140,000 miles on it. Can someone please assist me?

first of all you need computer diagnostics by a good diagnostic computer .. the cause of the problem will be found with a high probability
increased CO / CH can be from many reasons:
starting from bad plugs or incorrectly set ignition, ending with a dead catalytic converter + lamdazonds.
Often these are lamdazonds, so the first thing the mechanic said about it. At 140,000 mileage, you need to pay attention to the injectors too.

If it says the system is not ready, you probably just need to drive it more. The evap purge system won't even run unless you are at run temperature and going over 30 mph (I think). If it hasn't been able to run, it shows as not ready. So you might just need to drive for an hour or something like that. Hope that is all you need.

The Evap system will only run if you have a certain amount of gas in the car.
I think you need to have between 15% and 85% of fuel level to have it activate the test.
Here in New York, if your car is over 10yrs old, you are allowed to have one readiness monitor not ready and still pass. No check engine light can be on, though.
If your car is over 10yrs old and you have evap problems, you can erase the codes, and then drive with a full tank (>85% fuel level) until all other monitors are ready. That is how to pass the inspection test with a 10yr old car with an evap leak.
