Funny heat issue..

ok, so today I remote start my HHR, and after ten minutes it shuts off and I remote start again, runs another 4-5 minutes before I get in it...when I get in its still cold inside. so I put my hands on the vent by the windsheild and its still ice cold. so I sit for a few minutes, and it stays cold...so after running for about 20-22 minutes, there was still no heat coming out. so I head out on my route and within 5 minutes it was hot and cozy inside my car....so sure enough I sit parked running at the store and the air coming out slowly goes from hot to cold within a few minutes...

So, long story short, the car wont heat in park as soon as its in gear the heat comes out nice and hot...

It will get hotter a lot faster moving than idling. With what your describing, I'd say you have a stuck thermostat. What is the coolant level looking like? Normal?

normal coolant temps... I watched the temp guage climb to a certain line on the guage then the fan kicked on( I did this because this happened the night before too)....doesn't overheat....works right when I'm driving

So the coolant level and temps are normal? Your just not getting any heat while idling?

I was thinking stuck thermostat too...had the same problem in my old Exploder. My temp level stayed cold though.

No heat at idle/park...just experimented again. As soon as I'm driving the car warms up nice. Car gets up to operating temps(190+) within a few minutes, doesn't overheat. The stuck thermostat would make sense except for the fact that it will still get very warm inside my car. I'm pretty confused by this one, definitely not a normal problem. Car seems completely normal once I'm cruising, just won't heat up....

Same problem on one of my old F-bodies, usually it is low on coolant.

I'm gonna check coolant level tonight or tomorrow and see....but if its low where is it going? No leaks, so it can't be goodf it is disapearing... I only have 51,000 miles, so I can't see having such a bad problem yet, and the car runs awesome.

maybe the valve that allows the water to flow through the heater?
