looking for cv shafts for SS automatic

Wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to purchase cv shafts for my 2008 ss auto. Checked with GM nation wide inventory bank and only 1 was available in Alabama. Called them and they had sent it back to an unknown warehouse. Checked most all major parts sellers on line and they list it as "out of stock". I'm at wits end. Any ideas?

They don't seem to be available for some time. I remember members looking for them a few years ago. You might try looking for rebuilts (they are better anyway). But, you need to actually see them since many parts books are wrong on the SS parts.

The SS axle is different...

Most parts stores list the wrong part, GM included!

Look up the cobalt SS axle, if I remember correctly, that is the one you need

Just to be sure; you have purchased and installed this part and can vouch for it being correct?

If it is verified then we should put it in the elusive part number thread.

I found a really good site that goes into better detail on GM parts, & what they fit.
The "Product Fitment/Applications" section on this part seaching site shows ALL GM models that a part fits.

The Product Application Notes of the Product Assemblies section shows exactly what the part fits.
DON'T pay attention to the product description under this Product Assemblies info as it is just general/generic info...

It looks like the shaft for an auto SS doesn't fit any other car in the GM lineup.
Get them while you can, as it's very special...
SHAFT. Front Wheel Drive Axle. DRIVE SHAFT/FRONT WHEEL; SUSPENSION/FRONT made by GM. #15938134

Same deal with standard front calipers on our HHR SS
They don't fit ANY other GM cars.
CALIPER. Wheel Brake Cylinder/Caliper. BRAKE CALIPER/FRONT for Chevrolet HHR (2008 - 2010). #25894356
CALIPER. Wheel Brake Cylinder/Caliper. BRAKE CALIPER/FRONT for Chevrolet HHR (2008 - 2010). #25894355
You will NEVER get the correct reman calipers.
There are so few of these, as the piston size is special...

Yea that is the right part number but GM told me last week that there is not one anywhere, they told me to have mine rebuilt or salvage yard.

There was a member that got all up about the way GM contracts replacement parts. He said that the OEM parts makers had to keep stock for 10 years or more.

Seems like they made an exception with SS parts. Axles are not the only part.

If they are available rebuilt is better anyway; for the LT/LS anyway.
