Manual SS Axles

I don't need new axles for my 2 manual SSs right now but I want to buy a couple of spares in case they get hard to get again.

Which of these two would you buy from Rock Auto?

I checked the specs and they have the correct 27-spline input/ 30-spline output specs. Some of the other axles listed for the SS show 34/33 splines which is not correct.

Fits left or right? Aren’t the manual transmission axles different lengths?

Every source I try on the internet shows the same specs for both left and right axles.

GM shows 20778307 for the left side and 20778308 for the right side. Both are discontinued from GM. Looking online specs for both are the same. Don't know why GM had two different part numbers.

If memory serves, you can use the same part, but something has to be taken off the new part to work on the other side. It's talked about in thread in the common part numbers forum.

Yes, both of those reference the same GSV part (since the GM part is discontinued) so they also think the same part fits both sides.

RJ: I will look through the thread you mentioned to get more info.

RJ:

Here is what you referenced in the "common parts" thread as needing modification to fit the other side:

So, back to my original question.

Which of the two shafts would you buy?

One is $46, the other is $74.

This may be a case where the more expensive part is better, or not better but just more expensive.

Anyone familiar with either brand?

If you look at the specs they are the exact same item. Including mfg part number.

Now somebody might believe me when I describe RA as another Amazon/eBay/Banggood/Alieexpress. The different vendors have different prices. I think it is actually owned by Alieexpress or one of those.
