Im glad I could provide a great way to vent. Its a win win. You got to rant and I got some info. Thanks.

OK, I want a tune. What route should I go? Do I buy the HP tuners vcm suite and fiddle with it at home or should I send the info and do Trifecta? Any other options?

I would have someone tune you with HPTuners and do a real street tune.

screen name: Area47
real name: Bryan Higgins

look him up on cobaltss.net and send him a PM. he's quite possibly the best Cobalt (same as HHR) tuner out there and i believe he lives in the Kansas City area. he uses HPTuners.

Thanks. I have family out there. Six hours from where I am at and I wont have to pay for a hotel.

My wife had a 07 SS cobalt SC so I am familiar with the forum. Now I just have to wait for the ss.net forum to allow me to send him a message.

I have a cold air intake sitting under my bed because i put it on and had the same problems you did. It was good for like 2 days then it would throw the code like 5 times in a 10 mile drive. So for now its a nice paper weight until i tune for it.

Listen to BartSS, I had the EXACT same problem you are having when I swapped out the paper with just a K&N and then again when I swapped out the whole intake box... as he told me, some SS' just code when the filter is swapped. I read more on it in my repair manual that I just got on the HHR for the code P0101 which is the same as I got. It relates to the ECU not seeing specific readings within a calibrated range that it doesn't like and that causes the issue. If you go back to the stock paper, you'll lose the code probably within three cycles like I did and get your boost back if you were losing it. The dealership couldn't even figure that out. It took me less than a day to find the solution on here once I could post a thread. Unfortunately if you aren't going to tune like BartSS said then you'll just have to go back to the stock set up to get the car back to normal. As for those saying you needed to swap the MAF sensor, the dealership swapped mine twice and it didn't fix the issue, because it is the ECU that is expecting a specific range from the MAF and when it doesn't see it, bing.... CEL comes on. So, unless you plan on tuning your ECU then I'd just get your money back from the filter/intake manufacturer and call it a day.

Sorry Rally, I should have gave props to you as well. You were right there with BartSS on the issue as well.

Thanks for the info. I am currently waiting for my exhaust and I am going to order my inter cooler piping and other bolt-ons so I can get a tune with HP tuners. I have an experienced tuner waiting to fix me up.
