service air bag light
service air bag light
So I bought my ss a couple years ago now I have emissions, a few months after I got the car the service air bag light popped up, so went to the shop they can't find any thing they give me the car back a few weeks later it comes on again, now I have emissions the light wants to pop up any dam time it wants.could this be a bad connection ? If so does any one know the wire map for the air bag wire's?
What are "emissions" and what do they have to do with air bag lights?
If the air bag light comes on it means that there is a major safety issue. It may be covered under a safety equipment warranty.
It could be caused by a loose connector, check the ones under the seats.

I'm with donbrew on this.
What exactly are you asking about?
Fwiw. My SS doesn't have any thing that says "emissions".
Now if you're referring to a CEL( check engine light), that's something different. If you have a CEL, get the codes read and post them up here and we'll be glad to try and help you.

I'm thinking they mean state emissions test when no lights on dashboard are permitted.
For airbag lights you need a special reader, you will need a good body shop/air bag guy/GM shop to definitively tell you what the problem is. I am only guessing that you may be able to trace down wiring there have been reports of the under seat connectors being bad, there are connectors to the front seat belts and to each air bag. The air bag "brain" is under the console behind the shifter and the roll over sensor is under the waterfall. If anybody has ever messed with any of those things, they could have done something wrong.
DO NOT mess with the air bag system until after you disconnect the negative battery post!!!!!!!!!!
I just thought of the clockspring as a likely culprit. That's the part that makes the electrical connections between the column and the wheel.

that is correct I am referring to stat emissions, sorry I should of specified. and I have connected my code scanner to my ob2 with my superchip tuner which will tell me any codes, but when the service airbag light comes on theirs no codes for it. I strongly believe its a loose wire I just haven't pin pointed it.
thank you for your words of wisdom,I am in Baltimore Maryland area looking for other ss owners to meet with and see and talk about the best mods for the car.
