I showed him that the paint still shined there .I asked if he could at least take pictures and submit to gm just to look over the factory defect. He said no I would have thought. They could at least humor me by sending it in.
I understand your frustration about all of this. If you would like please, feel free to visit another Chevrolet dealership for a second opinion.

Thanks everyone
its just frustrating, I know that this vehicle was taken care of extremely well and I also understand that the salt in NY does a number on vehicles but when you get in other vehicles and there is no rust and they are older its pretty obvious what is going on.
I will try and get some pics tonight and post them and try another dealership.
I just cannot believe that I was told that it would not be covered because it was caused by washing the salt off

Thumbs down Rust gm knew

Hi I live in Clayton NY. 90 miles N of Syr. I bought my 2010 hhr from someone in syr. It had door rust at the lower seams. It was fixed [in syr] 2 days before I bought the hhr. The rust was back like 3 weeks later. I took it to a dealer in Watertown NY and they fixed it again just before b to b went off. That was abought a year ago. The rust is coming back a little now 10,000 miles later.
GM knew of this rust for years and never changed the process. There are a lot of hhrs out there with rust. The cause is the seam sealer they used or didn't use in that area.

SHAME ON GM. THEY SHOULD FIX THEM ALL WITHOUT QUESTION.

PS wifie loves her HHR.

Make sure that rubber lower strip is lubed with dielectric grease or more will happen. For your issue-sand it then paint it with POR 15. Worth every penny ($30 or more a pint) and the rust wont come back.

Por-15

I used Por-15 on my door panels. It was easy to use and seems like a very good product. It's a 3 step system and you can paint over it to match your color. It comes in black and silver.
