Steering Control module 25819157
 

ISO Steering control module 25819157. I have notice control module 25883854 from an Equinox being advertised by wrecking yards as fitting HHR SS. They have the same plugs and the power motor has 3 wires like the HHR SS. Can they be used?

A. Why do you think you need one? I have never heard of one failing.
B. You should post "Wanted" in the marketplace

You may want to do some investigation into the problem if you haven't done so. To condemn the module without doing so is not wise.

Agreed, why prime and pack the parts cannon?

took car to have clutch done. before second test drive after being on charger it now has no power steering. they even charged me to have GM guy come scan it. Got car back on tow truck.

Check the underhood fuse block The bolts holding the top half to the bottom need to be tighter than you think. Or the power steering fuse is blown. Or they jump started it incorrectly and fried something.

It can be driven without power assist. It's not fun, but it can be done.

If they did a clutch they messed with the fuse box. The fuse box has 4 bolts holding it together they need to be tightened much tighter that anybody thinks; 2-3 clicks after it has been disassembled.
Fuse #1 under hood is the power steering motor. Fuse #19 on the BCM is the EPS module..
What was the result of the scan?
Make sure there is only 1 wire ( goes to the EPS motor) attached to the under hood fuse box on the lug closest to the firewall. 2 on the other lug.

All those thing have been cheeked by the shop and then by my self once I got car back ,but at this point I will go over that again. GM computer code scan only says " can line failure" and was given a part number to steering control module that is no longer available.

There is a code NUMBER that they could have given you. The word description is useless, especially filtered through multiple people. " can line failure" is not a description of anything I've ever seen.
"Can-bus failure" does not narrow anything down; it means the mechanic has to work to find out where the fault is. Most likely that they did not reconnect something correctly; my first guess is the EBCM
If it was okay before they worked on it, they broke something. I can almost guaranty the module is not the problem, if it is they broke it somehow.

If everything was working correctly when it drove into the shop the shop is responsible for it. Their problem, not yours.

OK, all that, but I still find the initial question interesting. Alway want to know about interchanges with other models, and as an SS owners, especially SS steering stuff.
