15'' wheel ?

I need to buy winter tires. but 16" are very expensive.
I was wondering if a set of 15" rims would actualy fit the HHR.
I need to buy rims and tire, whether I go 16 or 15.

thanks

Anyone? 15's on the HHR? Tirerack says yes for my SS stock brakes, should I take their word for it?

I almost bought 15s for my SS based on the Tirerack info, but then I had second thoughts about it for the same reason. Can anyone confirm? According to the owners manual the spare won't fit on the front-gotta love that-u get a flat on front and u get to change 2 tires...

I'm running 15" in the winter on my LS. However, the SS has larger front rotors that I doubt would clear the wheel (it's already tight on the LS/LT). Also, I used my emergency spare in the front already and it fits; another indication that SS would have issues with 15" wheels, if they warn about this.

well, I went ahead and ordered 15" steelies ($24) with Winterforce 205/70-15 tires($53). The sales rep at Tirerack said they are guaranteed to fit my SS. So I will give them a try and report back, they should be here by the end of September. I too will be suprised if they clear the front brakes....

On another thread someone posted this link for tire and wheel size conversions:

http://www.onlineconversion.com/tire...conversion.htm

put in the stock set-up and compare it to the size of wheel and tires with your 15" steelies. If the height is the same it will fit. IMHO.

I used this URL when putting on 18's and choosing my tire size.

I believe an SS would need 16'' rims for the 18'' wheels and only if you have stock brakes. 16'' rims with 225/60/16 tires. I think someone else has a thread that works for a tire warehouse posted this. Sorry don't recall the member.
Hyperv stated> 16 inch wheels will fit with standard brakes but I am not sure on the Brembo option.

The 15" black steel rims suggested for winter tires from Tirerack DO NOT fit! I got mine today, they will not clear the stock front brake caliper on the SS.

would that mean they won't fit "regular" HHR's?
