245/45-17 or 225/50-17?

I would love to see pics of both tire sizes, if anyone is running them!

I am going with a 17x7 wheel. What is the ideal offset?

Thank you for the help!

So I've decided to try a 17x7.5 wheel with a 245/45-17.

If anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it - thank you!

Not sure why you would need that much tire with 170 hp. You are probably just waisting gas. wider tire = worse gas milage.

Sometimes it ain't what we need, it's what we want.

I hear what your saying..but I think those 245s may be to far out of your wheel well. Your splash guards/running boards may not be able to protect body panels from road debris. Turning radius may also be a problem. I run 225s, wide stance with no issues.

I'm not sure I heard that before.. wider tires = worse gas mileage?

I might just play it safe with the 225s. But I know it would handle better with 245s. And we have some windy roads so wider is always welcome around here.

Well, all other things being equal, wider tires will create more aero drag as well as static drag due to a larger contact patch. Taller tires also create a larger contact patch by making a longer contact area. However, to a point taller tires can ease rolling resistance and balance out the equation as long as overall drive ratio isn't hammered severely and too much extra unsprung weight isn't added.
