"chrome" wheels

I have a bone stock lt2 but it has the "chrome" wheels. which apparently is just a plastic chrome overlay on top of the existing alloy wheels...

Whats is underneath?

How does the chome trim come off?

do the wheels look good with the trim removed?

not sure mine came with the steel rims and plastic wheel covers, which reside in my shed hanging on a nail

The covers are held on by a foam adhesive, you have to pretty much chisle them off from the back side of the wheel. They really don't look good

OK, glad I did not try to wrestle with them...

yet another kind of stupid thing.. how much more can it cost to chrome a wheel as opposed to designing a hunk o plastic, and then adhering it on a wheel. I could see it as an easy way to do a wheel redesign for a different model year...but if you are involved in a curb scuffle, you still have to end up replacing the wheel...

I agree, I think they did that is because the wheel won't corrode. I have seen alot of the chrome GM wheels start to peel and corrode. Aluminum wheel with a plastic cap..problem solved! lol
