Continental Extreme Contact DWS
I put these on the beginning of November 2010 and they are great in the snow
Much better that the OEM's that came on my SS. They are a little noisy but I can live with that I have then ordered at Gerry's tire in Saline MI but they had then within a week.

I bought Conti Extreme Contact DWS last September. Great traction on our snowy and icy streets. They look great.
Went to 225/55R16, which is wider, and slightly larger in diameter than my OE Firestones. This corrected the inaccuracy in my speedometer. Could not be happier with them.

That said the DWS's are great tires , still working on wearing them out but damn good results so far
Thats what I thought too Where I live its a constant consideration. I can tell you the GoodYear F1 AS don't hydroplane. I've tried to cause it on purpose driving 80 into standing water they don't lift. I loved the traction with the DWS too and if your not living in the rinse zone like me buy them you'll like them. But I drive a lot in the rain and don't want to worry about control running next to a simi in driving rain there's enough to consider already.
I just bought a set of 225/50-17 DWS and they did great in the rain but are real noisy (just about as bad as the stock firestones at 60K miles.
Narrower tires will not hydroplane as easy as wide tires so I wouldn't compare 245 vs 225 tires because it is not apples to apples. Also if you are worried about wet and snow driving stay narrow because it gives you more weight on the tire for wet and ice traction.
