Finally replaced the Affinities

After much aggressive driving, mostly on dry pavement, I grew nervous after my car started floating around at will at highway speeds in the wet. I chickened out at last. So at 95990 miles, I finally replaced the OE tires with Yokohama Y580s. I was determined to go 100k on the tires no one likes on this forum, just to see if I could do it. Admiittedly, I used a Falken for 10k and pulled it (still perfect, but one directional is no good without a friend or 3...now in my shed). And one of my OE's had 5k less than the others (replaced at Firestone at an incredibly high price, when the sidewall got punctured when the HHR was still new). And also got 4 used (60k miles) Affinities still mounted on a friend's gift to me wheels (used one to replace the Falken, rotated the others with mine). At Discount Tire, I drove in with 6 tires, replaced four, and kept the best two OEs as spares (I abhor spacesavers, and carry both spare fullsize mounted in the rear). I am well pleased with the new tires, especially when it rains (only once so far in 2k miles). And with a 60000mi treadwear rating, I probably can get at least 100k. Maybe.

I'll give the stockers credit for lasting..I had 61.5 on mine and they still weren't on the wear bars..but they were like riding on those tire tread sandals...!
