What is the height of the front tires (you didn't list what the profile was)? Max is 26.2" tall.
If the front and rear tires are different sizes you will mess up the ABS pretty good.
And most tire shops recommend you do not exceed 3% (at least 3% comes to mind) difference in height between old and new tires.
Using the tire size calculator at https://tiresize.com/comparison/ -
- the 235/70-16's are 29" tall
- the 225/70-16's are 28.4"tall

Width dont matter just height

The 70 means the sidewall is 70% of the width, therefore width does matter.

Kenny, you need to read and understand the advice here, and realize you need to give up the idea of different sized tires front and rear.
The HHR is not a 1970's car. If you want to run different sized tires, go grab yourself a Nova or such.
