Learning your air sensors at HOME!!!!
Ok, I have learned over a year period here that some folks are unaware that you can teach/learn your tire air sensors at home.
FIRST take all of your valve stem caps off (This is to keep you moving during the program and that you save time). This program will stay on only for a couple of minutes until it will deactivate itself So......
Next, turn your vehicles ignition to on, but not start (this is where your dash comes on,stereo, and etc. DO NOT START!!!
Then, you depress the two buttons on your key fab at the same time. This is your LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. You will here your vehicles horn blow twice in a row. Your "Tire sensor program has been activated!!"
ALWAYS START AT YOUR DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE AND MOVE AROUND YOUR VEHICLE IN A CLOCKWISE MOTION (LF THEN RF THEN RR THEN LR)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you do not, your sensors on your display will be incorrect..
Start letting the air out of your LF tire. Keep holding (this can take a good twenty seconds or so). Don't panic!@! Suddenly you will here your horn Blow/honk. This sensor is recognized. You are done with this tire. Move to the next one. Let the air out the RF tire just as above. Move in your clockwise motion around your vehicle until you get to the last tire. When you have finished the last tire, your vehicle will blow its horn twice to let you know that you are complete. YOU ARE DONE!!
YES, VERY COOL IS RIGHT.

I've done this proceedure twice and it's almost fun. The grunt work comes beforehand when rotating the the tires. I also detail the rims and tires while in the process, where you can do them laying flat on the ground.
The problem comes when you ask the tire jockey if he reset the tire positions and he says "yes, no lights came on on the dashboard", or "I drove your PTCruiser around the block, that does the job". And then trying to tell the kid that he does not know everything (OMG I am turning into my father) and maybe I know something about my HHR that he does not.
Excellent write up, worked perfectly
My new sensors when unprogrammed, took about 4 hours to set off the warning light.
Make sure you have plenty of air in the tires before you start the process, because you will air down about 10 psi.
