They are summer tires but have proven to be great handling tires in dry and wet conditions. A large improvement over stock, and priced right.
I'm running the Nexen N5000's and I'm quite pleased with them. No snow here.

The Firestones gave me great mileage but were loud and did not track well in wet weather.
That's pretty good mileage off the Firehawks, I agree they are loud. Mine sure are, but I'm not gonna get near 52K before they need replaced..

Instead of staying with Hi-Performance tires, I'm thinking bout All season Touring Tires..

But that's a way off yet..

I just ordered a set of Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds and will have them installed near the end of the month. I read that a few HHR owners were running these tires and the reviews online were very good as well.

I picked these because they are supposed to be rated very well, as an all season tire, for snow and ice. Might not be high on your list of needs though.

New Eagle GT's

Just put on a set of Goodyear Eagle GT's on my 06 HHR. What a difference from the firehawks that came on the car. The steering is so smooth and the ride is unreal. Very little road noise, but have only had them a few hours. Great deal at Just Tire only $100.00 per tire 215/50/17 size.

Question:

When you have tires changed & have the TPM ? system in the rims, do those need replaced also ??

I think the GoodYear Eagles sound pretty good too.. Have to do some research on those..

That sounded like great price, but I just checked their website for my zip (SE PA), and they are $137 each, before installation. Guess I'll keep looking for a good deal...

I would contact them again and let them know the price. The Just Tire store I bought them from started at $139 per tire, but when I told him that discounttire.com had them for $104 the manager said he would sell them to me for $100. With these times everyone is looking for a better deal and the retailers want to sell you their products and will lower prices.

I just replaced my original 17" Firehawks on my '06 at 92,000 miles and still had some tread left. One of them develpoed a bulge in the side wall and I figured it was time. Actually I couldn' believe I got that type of life out the tire. I went with the 215-50-17 Goodyear Eagle GT's from Discount tire, so far so good, hope these last 92K miles...
