New Tire recomendations for SS?

I am about to need new tires for my SS and been doing lots of research including searching here, but want some opinions.

I have been looking for all season but live in NC and we rarely get snow. So not sure what I should get.
I am planning on 245/40 zr 18 so that is not an issue. I am looking for good performance wet and dry and good tread life.

I have been looking at Goodyear F1 asymetric but was quoted 890.00 OTD (OUT THE DOOR) at my local tire dealer.
They also recommended a cheaper couple of alternatives. I want opinions and other alternatives too.

They suggested:
Nitto Neo Gens for 625.00 OTD (After looking, I kinda like these)
Nitto NT555 for 645.00 OTD
Continental Pure contact for 825.00 OTD

Thanks.

Hey Doc, I found these to be a great tire, I have 40K on them and they are still going strong. Or I have my eye on the Michelin pilot they fit in 235x45. But these things wont wear out. Gmax03, 255x40

I'll second the General G-Max A03's. I have them on my SS and they are such a good tire, I am putting them on my wifes car tomorrow. I picked up a set from Tire Rack for her car 215/70/17's for 99.00 each (Normally $120/ea). Total with shipping was 436.xx. Local shop is installing them for $20/ea or $36/ea with a Road Hazard Warranty.

Great dry and wet traction. So So traction in the snow, but what do you expect for a Hi Performance tire. They are wearing very evenly and are fairly quiet as well. Could be quieter, but I'm not expecting ninja stealth for a $120 tire.

I have been reading about the gmax. From what I see they seem to last well and have good traction (which I like), but as said are noisy and get louder over time. Also some have had problems getting them to balance. Can you confirm this or any other problems?

Any other tire suggestions for me consider?

So far I am really liking these though. The gmax is becoming a contender. Tomorrow I will call for price.

Got a quote from my favorite tire place on the GMax tires of $705 OTD. I think that is good. Do you guys agree?
Even they said the gmax are some "bad-a**" tires - to quote them.

So far, they are now number 1 on my list.

I don't know where they are getting noisy from, I have run the mxm4's, goodyear F1's, potenza 760's, BFG G-force comp 2's, and the G-max was the quietest, and smoothest riding. They have 40K on them now and still are quiet.

However if they ever wear out, I will be buying the new Michilin Pilot sport.

I also run the Gmax on my SS and I loce these tires.. they ride great and grip good :) I don't about other people but I do not have excessive road noise... I think these tires rock and I am going to go with them again when i need news ones.. I have about 20k miles on mine now and they have lots of tread left :)

Alright I am convinced. I am going with the GMax tires. Thanks for the advice. It was not even a tire I was originally considering, but think it is the best.

Boy I sure hope you like them......I think 5 or more members are running G-max, I haven't heard a negative review yet.
