Non-Brembo disc, spare won't fit

Oh i had one question. I hit a big pot hole and bent 1 rim on the front and it has a slow leak and I tried to put spare on and it does not fit over the caliper. I do have non brembo ss front brakes. Do i need a spare from a ss so it clears the caliper? Thx for any help

SS uses the same spare as the LS, LT, so no on getting a spare from one.

Fwiw. The spare doesn't fit on the front of a SS either.

in other words, you will need to move one of the rear wheels onto the front, and put the spare on the rear.

I moved this from that Brembo thread to this new thread.

AFAIK, there is only 1 spare used across all trim levels. The SS still has a little donut spare.

You didn't use the factory SS non-brembo calipers, the aftermarket ones you bought must be bigger. You will probably have to do what we Brembo owners have to do with a flat on the front: Put the spare on the rear, and the rear on the front.

That being said, A donut spare should probably NOT be used on the drive axle of ANY car.

Make sure the spare is properly inflated, it needs much higher pressure. Check the placard in the driver door jamb, probably around 60 psi.

While it’s always best to place equal sized rims and tires on any front wheel drive vehicle.

I’ve only had the one flat, and it was the right rear, but I would have moved the larger tire to the front.
I have the SS non Brembo 11.6 inch rotors and brackets , on Oldblue.

The floor won't fit over it but you sort of can fit a full size spare in the well. The loss of traction from having the weight of a full size spare that far back is a major problem though.... Yeah, I tried.

On to plan B...

Actually, now that I think about it, I think the manual tells you to rotate a rear tire to the front and put the donut on the rear only. Still bad.

And, I am getting old...
