Potenza Pole Position!
These are great tires, they do not spin, they grip the road. This is really helpful with the SS, especially if you have the boost chip installed.

I have a set for sale, see the Classifieds on this forum, these come with NASCAR black rims, very bad-a$$ looking, sharp!! See the pictures in Classifieds. The tires have barely been used. I am in Indiana, not too far, I could meet you halfway. Will discount the price Vs. fuel expenses.

I got some 245/40's Michelin Pilot sports about 3k miles ago. I like the look and they seem to be good so far

I had Hankook Ventus V4 put on the other day. So far so good. Heck of a lot better than what I had whittled the Michelons down to.
After 65k they were a bit dicey in all the rain we've had.

Can the stock wheel handle 245 width tires? If so, any downsides?

Being that you live in OH, my suggestion may be off balance as these are a summer tires and not meant for freezing temperatures/snow.

My G-force sports have been amazing. Softer compound makes them a lot quieter than most tires, and they handle like a dream. They only take a few miles to warm up and once they do, it's one of the best summer tires I have ever had.

I too loved the OE Michelins.

I'm using Eagle GTs now on advice from my mechanic/friend.
He drives his modded STR-4 like he stole it which is very different from my style.

The GTs are STICKY around turns and have good traction from a stop.

They also give me 3MPG less over the first 1,000 or so miles.
That's right, 3MPG less.

They make the drive more enjoyable but they're not suited to my high mileage style.

I'll get Michelins comparable to the HHR OE tires on my next car.

What about them takes the mpg down? As it is right now, I fill up about twice a month so I'm not super worried about gas mileage, but I'm curious. New rubber is coming up soon (already at almost 33k on the stocks) and I want to make as informed a decision as possible because I'm going to be moving at the same time as my job slowing down at the same time as needing new tires. Fun!

How many miles did you all get out of your factory Michelins?

F - the pilots ,
The Eagle GT's are way better than the OEM mich.
Safer IMO.
