He offered to let me try them before I buy them. I'm sure I will try at least one to make sure it clears the brake caliper and suspension. been there..

looks to warm up Saturday, (above 20 degrees) so gonna do a road trip to see if they fit and if they do, they will be on the truck in short time!
The rims have TPMS sensors but I don't think I have that on my LT.. I hope it doesn't start sending messages that my TPMS isn't working. Dang technology!!

Your 2006 didn’t come with TPMS , so you’re gonna be fine! I just bought a set of 2LT wheels 17” from a 2006, I have to get the sensors in before next spring.

These wheels ^^^

Picked up tires, and the seller was very helpful! helped me mount all 4 on the HHR and they have more clearance than the 17's that were on there. Handles 200% better in snow and slush that the old tires so I am happy!!

I know, I know you need pictures...

sorry they aren't cleaned but I was driving and no garage..

Put them on at the seller's house and he had a steep snowy drive, plus a snow packed street so they got tested right away. Can't go wrong with Michlens and traction ice tires too. He was kind enough to help put them on and make sure they had air ! super nice guy! glad there are a few left in these times.

they have a bit more clearance on the back side by the springs too.
they wnt right through the snow and I had some trouble driving in. only lost about 3 mph on the speed. Speedo says 60, Phone says 57-58. I can live with that!

Those look great! If you don't like the MSW center caps or if you want a more stock look, grab the cheap stick on center caps from Amazon - I've used them several times and they stick pretty well - no issues on several cars I've used them on. Plus did I mention they're cheap? Lol.

Key word there "cheap" I noticed my MPG has changed a bit, then I realized I have different sized tires which affects my speedo reading so it also affects my MPG. duh!!

So.... tonight on the drive from work, the tires got a healthy test. a glazing of ice covered with a bit of snow. The tires grabbed like they were on dry pavement! couldn't be happier! Although the washers ran out of fluid, and the Caseys store closed just as I pulled in for more juice. I made it another 7 miles down the road to a Quick Trip and refilled the washer bottle, and took along a spare jug (just in case) Pass side wiper had a small tear, but still did the job! all in all, this thing is a beast in bad weather!!

even at that, it took 2 hours to drive 48 miles, mostly due to running out of washer solvent.

Interesting to read how well this is working out. I’ve seen comments about how the HHR is “bad in the snow.” Silly, because it’s really the tires.

I see your new tires are 205/55R16. Those work fine but smaller diameter than stock 215/55R16 which is very close to the diameter of the stock 215/50R17. As previously mentioned by Fastsuv, 205/60R16 is a great alternative for Winter tires, slightly narrower and larger in diameter than stock, so work great in snow, been using them since 2010. Just stuff to think about when it’s time to replace those terrific winter tires.
