tire advice
looking for recommendations on tires, we are looking for all, as here in alberta it is not impossible to get snow in july. just want an idea as what tires are the better ones for handling and tread life. thanks
I assume your looking for tires on the stock 18" wheels.
I am looking at the Eagle F1 all seasons right now or the new Eagle GT all season. Both are good tires in the wet and snow. Both are better than the factory Pilots.
Goodyear has some more new tires coming in the spring. I will see what new offerings they will have. As for now I still have a lot of Pilot miles left since I do not use them in the winter.
Avoid the Goodyear RSA tires as they are old and will be gone soon.
Also Goodyear ownes Dunlop and they are cheaper but basically the same tire.
There are some other bargins out their but with the rebates and my dads discount the Goodyears are usally the cheapest for me to buy. This is a big advantge for them with me. I saved over $150 on each of the last two sets I bought.
Check the reviews on tire rack and throw out the high and the low comments and you will get an idea of what to expect.
The SS has an odd size tire and not all companies offer all their models in this size. As 18's become mopre popular we will have more options.
I have alos had good luck with Toyo. I usally do not buy 4n makes but these came on a car I had and I can not say one bad thing about them.
The Michellins, BFG and Bridgestones all have been ok but nothing any better than what I have been using.
Keep in mind each brand has good and bad tire lines just as car companies have older models that are not as good as some of the new models. Always look for the best newest tire model reguardless of make.
