tire size 215/55R17 fit?

Anyone fit, seen, or heard of running this size tire on their HHR SS? Stock 225/45R18 is 25.9" tall this 215/55R17 is 26.5" tall and a bit narrower. I think it will fit fine but do you think they will clear the wheel wells turning in front? Think there could be too little clearance past our stock size? I appreciate any and all opinions! Thanks

Did you mean 17" or 18"? Title talks of 17". Assume you are talking about changing out rims as well.

yes, new rims too in a 17" winter wheel package, I can get a great deal on that particular size of Blizzak's, but if they won't fit, no great deal .. Thanks

I know that the 17" rims will fit, but the rubber stands 0.6" taller, in other words will require 3/10ths of an inch more clearance from inside the wheel well. Just sounds like such a small increase in size to cause a problem but the tire salesman is concerned about it and I would have to pay shipping to return them if they did not fit.

Even if they do fit (probably will) if you drive on snow, it will pack up in the wheelwells. For snow tires you want to get smaller ones than the summers.

The manual warns that using tires of a different size could interfere with the TPMS. Not sure what the particular factor is with that, but you should understand the potential issues before you order.

I did a re-calculation on the math, and that tire is only .34 inches taller
