Tires - Need to Replace ASAP!

I am new to this forum but have a question, I have a 2007 HHR LT with 215/55R16 stock tires that I need to replace. I wanted to replace those with either 215/60R16 or 205/60R16. Can I use either of these without any rubbing? People keep telling me I can use ONLY 215/55R16 tires which I know can't be true. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

In this thread ( https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...?t=9973&page=4 ) I read the tallest tire that will fit the front is 26 inches. The 215/60-16's are 26.1 inch tall and the 205/65-16's are 26.5 tall Your stock tires are 25.3 tall. This site http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp lets you play with different sizes and maybe usefull to you in choosing a tire size
I went to a 205/65 but in 15's for winter and those are 25.5" tall
I'm not an expert on this subject but hope the info I give will help.

Thanks, I checks that link and it is telling me the 205/60R16 25.7 inches tall and 1.6% taller then the stock 215/55R16. So if the tallest is 26 inches I should be able to use the 205/60R16, Correct? Thanks for the help.

The 205/60-16R's should work fine. To see how much your speedometer is off use this site http://www.web-cars.com/math/tiresize.html

Why would you want a taller narrower tire?

cheaper!! Car was in an accident and now I need tires. Is it a dumb move to do the 205/60R16? Will I notice a huge difference?

I know someone who has 16's on her car . Don't know the exact size tire, but on the rear tires it looks like there's barely an inch clearance between the tire and lower rear portion of the wheelwell & this is on stock ride height.

So if you get the taller tires watch your clearance on the rear well

It is dumb. The 215's were designed to improve handling and load carrying characteristics of a taller, heavier car. 205's will wear faster and the car will not handle as well with the smaller tire.

This is one of those times where being cheap isn't being safe.
