Tpms sensors

Ok. Just put on new wheels tires and 4 brand new tpms sensors. 2008 hhr. Just trying to understand do I have to get re flashed ? Or in theory could I just do the tpms procedure using remote? My real question is I guess I want to buy a tpms tool. I see ones in the $250 range that I would imagine will do the re flash?
There are also $80 tools that ive seen being used on utube will these reflash?
( what I mean by reflash is allow a brand new sensor to be learned) or do the cheap tools just take the place of having to take air out of tire till u get the beep.i need to have these 4 brand new sensors learned so do I need a reflash or could I just do the procedure or buy the cheap tool. I think the $80 tool just replaces the manual removing air in the procedure but won't learn a new sensor. Am I correct

Wow sorry for being so long winded

I don't see why you can't just do the air down till beep, like the owners manual describes.

But you would need to do this AWAY from the old wheels, since the car does not know the wheels are not connected to your ride anymore..And will still read the old sensors..

Personally, I'd have just used the OE sensors you have in 16'ers.. All you would'a needed was new valve stems, they have a small screw that holds on the sensor.. (see pic)..

I have tpms in my winter and summer tires I just do the air down till it beeps procedure when I install them.

I have a tpms tool but I'm adjusting the tire psi anyway so I don't use it unless I have a sensor fault I'm investigating.

Short answer: no flash no tool just a standard relearn.

That is assuming that You we're able to do the standard relearn before. MY old 2008 had been a fleet car with The RS and TPMS relearn deleted.

As an update I was able to do the relearn procedure no problem. Mavis of course was telling me I'd need the reflash for $15 a wheel. All good thanks for replys
