Wheel Locks
My HHR came with these pretty 17" Alloy wheels...
Now I am considering getting a set of Wheel-lock lug nuts.
Do you-all think this is a good Idea?
Any problems with the alloy wheels and Wheel-locks?
Tanks,
Matt

Dirtsurfer...did the ky fit through the hole? I am going to buy a set at an auto store...the dealer wants $32 for them...rediculous.
many times the wheel lock KEY doesnt fit the lug hole opening very well, and ends up scratching the clear coat inside the hole, causing eventual peeling of the clear coat later from stored water after washes.
thanks for the link/part number.
just keep in mind folks...the size
12mmx1.5 is the pitch.
McGuard part number is 24157

Mine came with locks, but in the transition from the original dealer to the one I bought from, the key was lost. My dealer had to cut the locks off and replace. I had them put on a set that uses what looks like a large allen wrench, but with a unique pattern to the shape. It fits to the inside of the locking lug instead of over or around. No worries about damaging the wheel. They are more noticeable because of the large center opening, but they are more secure (or so I've been told). The set was less than $20.

I would get wheel locks and an alarm immediately . Back in nov. 2004, i bought my 2004 honda civic si . I DIDNT BUY THE dealer wheel locks because they were overpriced at $70. Soooooo...got forgetful ..time slipped away....and on april of 2005 i awoke and found my car up on blocks with the mags and tires stolen ($1500, covered by insurance). I mention it happened on my birthday? Here in Vancouver we have a huge junkie/break& entering/ car theft-vandalism problem (just to name a few). I blamed my own stupidity for not buying the mag locks from day one. Not that its impossible to steal the mags with the locks...but at least slow a thief down or make him go to the next easier target.
