5W20 oil?

5W20 oil?

Ok so ipicked up my hhr used a few weeks ago and just noticed the oil change sticker said it was changed about 1000 miles ago and 5w20 was put in it i checked the owners manual it calls for 5w30 normally i wouldnt sweat it but..... looking for some feed back

It could be a typo error or was the car from the cold country. What does the DIC read? I don't believe 5-20w oil will hurt anything. If you are uncomfortable, you can always get the oil changes again for $30 or so.

DIC reads 90% oil life left, and yeah the weather here is going to the teens over the next week prob be fine.

The two oils are the same on cold starts but you need the SAE 30 when the engine oil is at operating temperature.

If your driving is short trips, then keep the 0W20. If your winter driving is normal, that is you drive for more than 15 min at a time, put 5W30 in it at the next oil change.

5W20 is not the correct oil and, over the long haul, may cause problems.
