Popping noise from front end 2006 HHR
I've looked through the bulletins and the numerous noise threads on the site but this one is puzzling. While stationary, if you turn the wheel, there is a popping noise. It seems to be worse with the AC on and I'm guessing this is due to the increased strain on the serpentine system? It will make the noise while cornering slow but it is more noticeable when stationary. Any suggestions?

My guess would be a steering shaft noise. Here is one of many threads on steering shaft noises. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...ng-shaft-6633/

No way to involve the serpentine, power steering is electric.
Possibly bad hubs, springs making noise, sway bar links and/or bushings making noise, strut bearings.
A/C involvement may mean evaporator leaking water onto sway bar bushings.
