Clutch Pedal Return Spring Issues

I had my pedal return spring break on me last week, I got the spring kit today and I replaced all the bushings, the bushings all looked to be in good condition and the center bushing slot wasn’t worn like some on the ones I’ve seen people post. My problem is when I hook the spring to the center bushing on the clutch pedal it’s under a ton of pressure and has a noticeable bend on either side, then when I press the clutch pedal the spring rotates in the pocket and sucks the pedal down to the floor, I’m guessing I’m just installing the spring wrong, but looking at the diagram it seems right to me. It kind of seems like my pedal may actually be bent, but I’m not sure. Hoping someone can tell me what I’m goofing up haha, thanks in advance.

Looks fine from that angle, how about pics from the sides?

What part number did you get?

I never saw the spring before it broke, so it seems like the coils are bent at a strange angle to me. Is that what they normally look like? The part number is 25867553. I’ll show a couple of pictures of the sides, they’re a bit hard to see because it’s overcast out sorry about that

Yep, it’s turned 180 degrees.

That's the correct part number.

It doesn't look backwards to me...

I spun it 180 degrees and that had spring tension pulling the pedal towards the firewall. It’s definitely possible I’m doing something dumb though haha

In your first post, you said that when you press the clutch pedal the spring rotates in the pocket and sucks the pedal down to the floor. Does the pedal come back up on it's own? If so, I think you have nothing to worry about.
