Sorry to hear that rob, usually fire departments will have free sandbags to give out. Might help.

Maybe the Fire Depts. have free sandbags in your area, but not here. If we need them, they are available from our city Public Works Dept.

I hope the worst is past Rob. I've just been getting rain bands coming through since last night. The swale in front of my house is getting full, but there is a canal at the end of my street and the water does drain quickly even when we get hit more directly with a hurricane.

When I first moved to Florida 2003, I lived 1/2 a block from the ocean in Cape Canaveral. I'd get sand bags, go down to the beach and fill them and bring them back to "block" the garage, where a car was stored. In 04, there were threats of 14 ft storm surge, I blocked the garage and evacuated. Fortunately, there was no storm surge. I hadn't done sand bag filling since my days in Vietnam, didn't like it then either.

Guys, you're Canadian friend prayers are with you in this time. My girlfriend's parents go to Florida every year and they love everything about it. We plan on joining them in the next couple of years for a holiday. Hope everything goes smoothly.
