We'll I guess that I'm going to have the same "issues" as you fine folks.

Crate Engine notifited me that they shipped my kit today, so I will be having it installed in a week or so... And agreeably at my local dealer; not from the dealer who brought this "Stage 1 issue" up in the first place.

With the state that GM is in, if I listened to them and waited, who knows if they will fulfill the backorder on July 6th or for that matter whether they will ever fulfill it?

In my opinion, I think that the only "issues" that GM is having with the St1 kit is that people want them so much that it depleted the stock.

I'm having this "issue" as well, but it's a good issue to have.

Thanks again...

ONE ISSUE: If you really want this kit, I would advise anyone that can find a dealer that has the part to BUY IT. The biggest issue we are having on ALL parts is that we can't get them because vendors are not selling to GM due to the impending possible bankruptcy. Hopefully this will change next month, so you can wait and see or buy what you can find. But your guess is as good as mine as to when this situation will get better.

I had my ST1 kit installed today at my local dealer near my house (not the "performance dealer" who said there were “issues” with the kit and I should wait until July 6th). Pretty amazing that I ordered it from Crate Engine on May 21st and now only 7 days later my HHR's a rocket on steroids.

2 hrs to install and zero hitches. Clean install, no hanging electrical tape or loose hanging wires.

I put about 30 miles on it since I picked it up this afternoon and the performance is overwhelming (those running the kits know exactly what I'm talking about). I could never get more than 15psi of boost no matter what RPM, and now it is at 15psi as low as 2500 to 3000 RPM. Winding up higher gets around 25psi. Never seen this amount of boost before now. Throttle response seems even better than stock. Easier to modulate RPM.

My 19 year old son took it for a ride (I was riding shotgun, of course), and he easily got rubber out of 2nd in front of his favorite ice cream stand. This is the place in town where this is done, except this time it was with an HHR instead of something out of Fast & Furious. Jaw dropped and wide eyed, his views of VW and Honda as the only fast 4banger game in town has changed.

One thing that surprised me is that the avg MPG on the DIC actually went up, even with "heavy footing", rural and around town driving. I recently drove it around during the week and clocked about 22.8 by the time I brought it in to the dealer for the install and after it was done, I was clocking 24.5 by the time I got to my house a little while ago.

Does this make sense? If so, it certainly would be a kicker to get better mileage on top of outstanding performance.

This upgrade is all that the group said it would be and more. Thanks again for the great advice.

Yes the MPG increase was a unintended side effect of the kit. The GM engineer said the better tune and torque help get the car up to speed faster and easier which save fuel.

Not sure what you are asking here.

GM offers this kit only for the 2.0 turbo and they do offer a stage 1-2 for the Supercharged engine in the Cobalt SS that preceeded the 2.0 turbo. I think it was 235 HP in Stage 2. This kit mostly overdrives the SC and increased power a little differently than the 2.0 Turbo kit.

Those are the only GM kits offered right now.

I read the question to mean does a Stage 1 kit work on a 2.2 or a 2.4 and the answer would be no since it's affecting the tune of the engine and adjusting the boost of the turbo.

Yes the whole point of the the GM tune is to increase boost and with the 2.2-2.4 there is nothing to generate boost since the N/A engines.

Any changes to the computer on the N/A engines are minmal at best just as it is with most aftermarket programers and chips. Most responsive engines are the turbo and supercharged engines.
