So you are stating that the best possible gains would be made from the cut-out? If so and this can be verified I will place my order today!

You didn't say you had a funding issue. You are limited to a cut out and thats it. You asked for performance gains and I gave you what I thought. I am telling you from exp not from just something I made up. I good exhaust system is the best way to go as a total. Cutouts are loud and can get annoying and bring unwanted attention. Get the cut-out if you don't have money or just save up for a good exhaust.

I don't have a boatload of $$$$ to spend right now, so obviously the cut-out is the most reasonable option, and with the ability to go from stock to open is great as well, but if it would provide better gains to go aftermarket I would honestly rather go that route. The biggest problem is the cheapest exhaust system I have found is $300, ranging up from there, and when you start throwing in downpipes and all that, the figures go up fast! I was planning to spend around maybe $600 total, but I want the most for my money. I was trying to walk through what creates these gains in these systems, and I thought it was having the most free-flowing system that would provide the most power, and a cut-out would be just that as it eliminate all restrictions, but if that is not the case then please someone elaborate and let me know how all this plays in and what system provides the best gains at this time.

The gains isn't that much better between the two. Maybe 3hp to the cut-out.

Well I got 7 H/P more out of my E-cut-out so thats alot and enough for me...and for my other vehicle it actually gave me 14.88 h/p more...I got the proof for the Truck if you like to see the difference..The HHR I didnt get the print out.

heres the dyno from the Chariot:

From Dyno 1 to dyno 4 theres 14.88 H/P gain just by opening the E-cut-out and the the other run was removing the air filter 2.5 H/P more there's my proof...but this was on the ladies chariot her 1/2 truck I saw an actual 7 h/p on the SS, It should be up to each individual on what they want on their vehicle.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am glad to hear both sides. We'll see what I decide, I am not completely limited to a cut-out, the CGS full exhaust is only $300 + installation whereas the cutout is $200 + installation. Not a huge difference. Problem is, if the CGS will not give me a good deep loud muscular sound, and only provide minimal gains over the cut-out, I only really plan to use the cut-out at the track and whatnot, maybe just to play here and there, but not open all the time. That is where I feel it could be better, in that I could be silent with the OEM exhaust when I want, and loud as hell when I want! We'll see, I haven't decided yet.

Over Stock Exhaust correct? I'm talking a After Market DP and 3 inch cat back. I had dual cut outs on the Z and lost a lot of low end power and a horrible power band dyno. LT headers X Pipe and dual 3 inch made better power than the cutouts open. The Cutouts we're after the Headers. I just got rid of them.

But yes, it will be a little better than stock exhaust for sure.

Here's my take on the cut outs. Regardless of power, you have the option of closing it and not having your car sound like a chain saw on steroids. Fart cans don't give you that option.
