Sigh, of course a clutch upgrade is in the works. Well I'm definetly upgrading to a turbo and clutch, turbo this summer, clutch this fall. Whether or not I post up results afterwards You guys might have to start reading and keeping up with the cobalt community to get info on upgrades, mods, what our platform is capable with our engines and maybe try some stuff out for yourselves to post up here

Sure feels like alot of negativity from our community anytime you bring up new ideas, mods or upgrades.

I remember recieving the same negativity when I said I was putting the Solstice/Sky SSR Type C RS wheels on my HHR SS cause i had to use spacers, guess what, not one problem with them since installed: 15mm spacers hub centric, Honda 5 lug ARP extended studs, yeah I used those instead of LS1 because the Honda ARP's could be beat in with a hammer (and have bite on the knurl) instead of pressed in for the LS1 (amazing what some dial calipers and time will find out), I'm sure none of you knew that (the Honda 5 wheel lugs is a freebie, your welcome). I only had my wheels mounted and balanced, not even aligned and they are lighter, run straighter, better balanced, and more true then the factory anchor weights, with even wear all the way across the tire.

Some people are just happy factory built I guess.

Not really, I re-read all the posts in this thread and nowhere did I see anybody talking about you being from Alabama!

On a side note..the Cobalt crowd is younger and more wiling to experiment..while the HHR crowd are old and don't want to get their hands dirty,,,,,anymore.

Can't agree with that. As soon as our 2010 is paid off, damn the warranty, i'm putting the engine North/South and rwd so I can push the boost and go rice hunting without having to worry about grenading that gearbox. Bought the HHR SS instead of a coupe so there was room for two dog crates, but at 60 yrs.old, I can assure you, plenty of 'wrench' left . Almost bought the bellhousing from quad4 this week. Have to wait for the stock market to rebound a little, so the wife doesn't kill me for the expense.

we appriciate the research and info hhrsouth. i think some people are thinking twice about putting that much power to a car that's not paid for yet. right now i'm just willing to go 325ish to the ground. sucks to pay on a car you can't drive because you voided the warranty. trust me,i know you gotta pay to play. that's why i tell newbs,if you are worried about warranty, leave it stock lol. overall, the hhr ss has been okay as a whole. no major failures(besides a couple of blown trannys and turbos). if i go with it, i would turn the boost down to about 20-25psi,if that. i hear the cobalt that's runs the s20g runs 17psi. i feel the turbo will be okay,as long as you are conservitive with it.

If I remember right the S20g is a 500 hp capable turbo. I know for a fact this new bolt on turbo will be no where close to 500 hp. There is no telling when or if Hahn is even going to release that turbo. As of a few weeks ago they had no date or price for it, the Turbo has been on one of the guys cobalts for I would say 6 months now, thats more then enough time to test it. So I wouldn't hold my breath on it ever coming out in true bolt on form. The funny thing about the guy is he had it put on at Hahn and tuned, he ran into problem after problem with it tuned. BYT (a well known tuner) helped him fix some issues under the hood and retuned it, it finally start running right with some tweaks. Last time I heard that guy was going to sell his S20g (I offered to buy it ), but that was 3 months ago, hes overseas right now. So time to move on, can't hold on to maybes.

Wow, I would be crazy if I didn't think of that was directed towards me. Re-read my first post and you'll see I wish I could do that. In that section I was essentially stating how envious I am of you, without using those exacty words.

Beyond the warranty, I have a winter to deal with and traction is just that much harder to come by on ice and snow. I do wish you best of luck on it and am curious to see how it goes!
