Cold Air Intake for an SS

i know this has probably been asked and answered a million times but i just want a straight answer.

I would like to put a Cold Air Intake on my 08 SS 5-speed and i kinda want a BOV

Questions:

Do i need a tune?

Can i get a BOV?

Does anyone have K&N CAI for their SS?

Does anyone have a BOV for their SS?

any and all information about this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

YES
Can i get a BOV?
YES, but you'll need to relocate the MAF to the cold side pipe.

YES, I and a few others do- again you'll need a tune. Even just a K&N filter in the stock airbox will throw your fuel tables severely off whack. I didn't believe it until I got tuned and saw the big difference.

BartSS, HHRSSouth off the top of my head, both are 5speeds if that matters to you.
any and all information about this would be very much appreciated.
You're welcome!
Thanks, Mike
Read all the above in red.

check the classified section for a good deal on a k&n kit...all mods need the benefit of a tune to see their full potential...especially something that is going to effect your maf readings...you can run a bov if you want, relocating the maf to the lower charge pipe helps with tuning, although some have had success leaving in the air intake pipe.

the GM stage kit is not worth it imo...500 bucks plus 150-200 for installation. Buy hp tuners for 500 and have someone tune it for you for 200-300 bucks......you will make WAY more power....30-40hp over the stg kit with a catless downpipe is not unheard of.

catless downpipe is one of the best upgrades you can do besides a tune. add a more efficient intercooler, ic piping, the k&n kit would be good.

the upside to ic piping you ask......

If you can get the stg1 for 500 do it but you can retune with trifecta for less you wont believe what 25lbs of boost feels like. However once you start you will want more stuff, like good piping and a intercooler without plastic parts, the list goes on and on,but each upgrade I've done has improved the performance markedly. Happy modding
