yeah warranty covered it...but as you upgrade and boost gets increased, the pipes definately need to get an upgrade

Agree with what many have said on here. IC piping and a bigger intercoler will let your turbo "breathe" better i.e. spool up quicker, be more efficient, the air intake charge will be cooler and make your motor happier. If you're worried about a warranty claim, then get the GMTU 1st; as without it the ECU will scale back any power gains you'll make from any bolt-on mods. You can get a Trifecta hide-a-tune after that or HPTuners BUT get yourself a good tuner that's familiar with our motors. Right now I had BYT give me a "mildly aggressive" tune since my SS is a daily driver. But anytime I floor it the boost gauge spikes at 25psi and settles at 20-22psi all the while I'm getting pushed back in my seat. I'd definitely recommend getting tuned once you have all your parts in as I'd been running with 95% of the mods in my sig for over a year and a half. I was tuned recently and the car is a night and day difference.

Later

omg that must light up the tires so easily! explain to me the trifecta tune??

Trifecta makes a selectable tune that can be turned on/off via either the cruise or traction control button...supposed to be undetectable to the dealerships.

there are also many authorized dealers from which you can order or have the tune installed from. also purchase the cable that is used to interface the pc....it will be worth the $$$ so you can update the tune any time you want and log for any problems you may be having.

no switch under the hood...either the traction control button b/t the two air vents above the radio, or the cruise control button on the steering wheel.

me, asanti, and mightymouse all used hp tuners (correct me if i am wrong guys). the switchable tune with the traction control button or cruise control button is 400 plus the tuning cable is 200. if you send the tuning cable back once you are finished you receive credit back for the 200. i recommend keeping it so you can datalog to troubleshoot problems and you can update your tune as you add more mods....as long is it is not major ie a turbo upgrade then this is free.....................sooooo that would be 600 for the trifecta. or you could buy hp tuners for 500 and most will tune you with hp tuners for 200-300 bucks...hp tuners in my opinion gives more flexability and you own the software so if you choose to learn you can tune your car yourself

as far as how different is it from stock....that depends on how agressive the tune is....how much timing your car allows you, how much boost you run, etc all play a part. with an upgraded intercooler, charge piping, custom short ram intake, and catless downpipe, with hp tuners i am in the 330whp range judging by my airflow and i guestimate around 375ftlbs tq. stock to the wheels would be about 230hp and 230ftlbs.....trifecta yields similar gains. btw if you don't get a catless downpipe you won't get close to those numbers its one of the cheapest most powerful mods you can get in combination with a tune

what would you recommend to get? wouldn't the catless downpipe make it loud as hell!? i have magnaflow exhaust already, so no mater what i do im looking at 800$ to 1000$ what kind of number could we be talking if i were to do a catless downpipe? i really want something reliable, i am using my car as a daily driver and i want more power without giving up reliability and economy? if i get the trifecta then i should get a new IC and IC piping?

ATLsilver,i have the trifecta and your numbers are pretty much spot on. i'm put down 342(i have an upgraded clutch and was able to boost a little more).

chevyss guy,the catless down pipe will not make it louder. deeper, but not annoying honda civic loud. to be honest you almost don't notice. to get ANY hp gains,be prepared to spend $600-$1000 per mod. to be honest, there is no such thing as a cheap mod. remmeber this and you can't go wrong. you can only have two of the three: fast, cheap= unrealiable. fast, reliable=$$$. you can't have cheap, fast, realiable lol. yes,if you get a tune, get the ic piping at very least. then build from there.
