Frankly Scarlett, I'll keep the air bag! The pillar rack looks cool, but it's hell on the facial structure during a crash.

I emailed them to see if they are able to make them or not. If they are, does someone have an extra pillar they can use for mock up?

Just got an email back, here's the response:

"Yes, It is basically illegal (and a major liability) to modify any part in the car that has an air restraint system in or around the part. Even if the system is an option on some cars. We have been doing dash mounted parts like http://www.gaugepods.com/mazda6.html so we can use your dash lid as an alternative."

His alternative looks cool as long as it does not take away my storage:)

I have the RPD and have been contemplating a dual gauge setup along with the RPD, but that won't happen until I finish smoothing the dash.

The mazda set up looks good. I also have the side curtain airbags on my 08 SS , and would also perfer not to mess with air bag areas, But you see in the airbag video, The gauge pillar does not move , So maybe it would be alright ?
And i just picked up a dead mint 06 mazda 6 sport sedan with 44,000 miles on it for the wife.

several months ago i asked this company to make me a pod and was told they couldn't because of the airbag. i sugguested the storage lid, and posted in this site about it and it got deleted since they're not a supporting vendor. oh well. good luck
