Dealer won't install turbo upgrade
Dealer won't install turbo upgrade
I'm getting ready to purchase the GM Turbo kit (had to put some $ aside, good deals on ebay).
But before I purchase it, I wanted to make sure dealers around me would even do it... and that's the issue. I have 2 around me . 1 of them said they don't do any kind of upgrades at all, which was a bit puzzling.
The other said that they weren't even sure if the HHR had an upgrade and that no one there would know how to do it (they come with instructions, no?)
So now I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I know this is something I can't install my self

If you get the kit with the CED plug & play connectors....you can install it yourself. All you do is replace 2 Map sensors (upper and lower) and plug it in. Then....all the dealer has to do is flash it.
Man that is a little hard to believe. There are dozens of Chev. dealers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. A few are noted "performance" dealers...so say a couple of Corvette Forum car owners. I would check around.
It might also be a worthwhile trip to go to Houston. Many dealers there are national know performance centers.
Otherwise if you are reasonably inclined, do as suggested above.

Why would a Chevy dealer be willing to install 3rd party hardware purchased by a 4th party? They would not know what they got in the box, or have anyway of guaranteeing the work, I would not even have the (ahems, that's a clearing of the throat sound indicating a personal area of the male genitalia) to ask. Try an independent shop or be prepared to do it yourself.

If you buy from a source on ebay, I agree with KM8SS, DO NOT buy the kit if it has the crimp connectors, only get a kit with the plug connectors at each end of the pigtails so that your wiring harness doesn't get cut. Yes, the kit from GM comes with instructions and details that are an absolute must for installing.

That's the one I have been looking at. Just waiting on a reply from ChevyMgr.
Also, what's with the ZZP intake? Is that any good? I can't find any info any any website besides this one. There a link to their site where you can purchase it?

Find another Dealer, one that can do this, or your wires will rub and you will be upset. DO NOT CUT WIRES, again you will be upset when it fails. That being said, get that puppy in there and go shread some tires.
