My point being: a GM shop does not get the profit from parts purchased elsewhere. And they could not guarantee a part that a customer brought in is "real" even if it has GM stamped on the box. It did not come to them via a chain of custody.

I assUme that you are saying that no parts have ever been counterfeited? Since when is the former Mr. Goodwrench a "good performance shop", they are only authorized to do "official GM sanctioned" work, except for tires and oil changes (read high profit, low liability)?

Oh, well. Never Mind.

Here is the difference in buying on ebay and buying from a dealership, either online or at the dealership, and it's the warranty.

If you buy on ebay, you probably will not get any warranty at a dealership on the kit, even if a dealer installs it. If you buy on ebay and a dealer does not install it, you get ZERO warranty. This is because you didn't buy from GM. If you buy from a dealer and you install it yourself you get a 12 month warranty. If you buy from a dealer and that dealer installs it you get the remainder of the factory warranty or 12K/12 month whichever is greater.

If you buy from an online or local dealer and have a different dealer install it, the warranty gets murky. I have installed kits bought at my dealership and kits that were bought online and I give them the full warrranty as listed in the second paragraph above. Other dealers may or may not do this, because technically buying at the Retail Parts counter or buying online is a 12 month warranty.

The one you are buying on ebay is the wrong one. It has the crimp on connectors which require the installer to cut your wiring harness. Like other have said, if you cut the harness and use those crimped connections you will be kicking yourself down the road. Get it with the pigtail adapters with plugs on BOTH ENDS.

I just purchased the kit, guys! I'm excited. I can't wait to get it installed.
This is the one I purchased : http://www.crateenginedepot.com/Coba...HK-P10773.aspx

I spent a little more money, but ChevyMgr said that was the correct one to get. I hope to take it to his dealership which is about a hour away from where I live to install. CAN'T WAIT!!

The one you ordered is the one. The second one is the kit with the crimp connectors that will age you before your time. I only wish GM was selling the one you got when I did the mod 1-1/2 yrs ago ! Good luck with it, you will love the change it makes. Make sure you chat with the tech that will install this BEFORE. Make sure that the tech knows the lower sensor must fit flush to the charge pipe which may require the sensor to have a tab trimmed off. The old kits required that to be done, not sure about the new ones. But your stock charge pipe definitely has an anti-rotation bar cast into it which will interefere with the new sensor if the small boss isn't removed by the tech (if the sensor has the small boss on it). The instructions will be (or should ) be very clear about that. The attached photo's indicate what needed to be done with the kit GM provided for mine. The other thing to watch for is to make sure the Tech provides good clearance with the lower sensor wiring adjacent to the A/C compressor. If the cabling is too close there it will chafe and F/U your wiring.

Thanks!
I had the upgrade on my old Cobalt, so I already know what a difference it makes.
The tech should know what he's doing, I'm going to be taking it to ChevyMgr dealership (hopefully).

To be clear, I am not disputing what you are saying but here is what my dealer told me.

I bought my kit on line and took it them to install. They hadn't done one but had heard about it and were more than happy to do it. I asked about warranty and they called Chevy and came back with:

1. They didn't care where you got it. Since they needed the cert to update the PCM, they assumed if it was a valid cert, it was a real kit. I don't know if the cert can be used twice. If you read the instructions they are clearly written with the expectation that a customer might install it (something about drive slowly to your dealer to get the PCM updated.)

2. The warranty is 5/100k. If I installed it myself, they wouldn't cover any workmanship (installation) but would still cover the parts. That said ...

What I didn't nail down was if the map sensors are part of the 5/100k warranty. They could have meant that the engine warranty was still 5/100k but considering the parts covered under the post 3/36k warranty change periodically, who knows if they are covered. The maps are cheap so if they do fail, it's not the end of the world. I was mostly concerned about keeping my 5/100k intact at whatever level of coverage it has. They showed me the in-services dates on the system and installing the kit didn't change anything.

Bottom line - we will see!

You say cheap but I've seen people replace then 2 or more time a year cause of bad installs on HHR SS ...at 93$ a pop it starts add up
So make sure they fully understand instructions and extras for HHR. I made my service manager and tech doing job go over it with me. I then had them show me the install before I paid

On other part you are correct keep your 5yr/100k. But maf falls under 3/36k marker
