Gm Turbo Upgrade Dyno Results
An 18g doesn't actually exist. It's a hybridized (bastardized) Mitsu TD05-16g and TD06-20g. It's also fallen well behind Garrett's feature set such that they're really not a very good choice any more. For about the price of the 18g, you can get a comparable (and much faster spooling, better bearing'd, better cooled, lighter, more reliable, and more serviceable) Garrett GT series. In addition, since you've got to have someone (or yourself) tune the ECM after the swap, you may be on your own with the choice, as others will not likely got the Mitsu hybrid route.

even without my Hahn tune, my auto has never had any trouble in the boost department. have always been close to 20 and above without the tune and better still with the tune, I think the highest I ever went was 27psi, and everything must have been perfect at that particular time.
in the last month that we have had the cold weather, the boost still will go up to 20 and above depending on the temps, I think only one time and this was hittting passing gear it did 16 psi, but it still runs great.
even the thread I did on the 0-60 times showed how much of an improvement I did going from a best 0-60 6.75 stock down to a 0-60 5.6 with the tune, to date, haven't really done any runs lately.
But for you auto drivers there is a difference with and with out the TC engaged. I always run in Launch Control, except when the road conditions are slippery.
Maybe some day I will do the dyno, but either way I am very happy with the performance the SS has given me so far, thinking about the new air system when it becomes available, who knows I may be in the low 5's after that is installed

I have never seen anything even close to these boost pressures and I live at Sea level and a mild climate. Damn.
just an opinion....
During the summer, I was just driving regular, no passing gear, no WOT's and I did notice the car did not feel right, now granted it may have been a load of bad gas, which I thought at the time it was, but I got back into the habit of keeping passing gear alive, and some 1/2 throttle or WOT's bursts when I could safely do them without other vehicles around me, I do this 2 to 3 times a week, just to let the engine know I am not slacking
and the end result is, the performance is there when I need it. It just feels good....
And BTW, use the best gas you can buy, if you can get 93 then buy it, don't expect the performance you may be looking for on 87, just my opinion.
I think you may need to try finding a safe area where you can do some multiple runs @ WOT or 1/2 throttle starts and numerous passing gear runs, from 55, 60, 65, 70 mph, etc., and repeat these when you can on dfferent days. I guess it can't be stressed enough, that the ECM will adjust to your type of driving, whatever you do. Not saying to go out and beat up on the SS, but if you drive one way and then expect the engine to perform another way, you may be dissappointed.

I think ADM Perf offers an octane booster that is supposed to be relly good, that is something you van or should try next time you run, it may help you out, I may even try it myself.....
He does now that he readjusted his wastegate back to stock he seems to think it was holding him back. He told me today he was seeing 25 PSI and tops around 27 if I remember correctly. I PM'ed him hopefully he'll post up soon
Yeah I posted it on another post. i adjusted the rod back to stock before I installed the kit and the boost went down to about 7. I really didnt think I got the rod back in the right place. I checked out the wastegate on my roomates car and it looked different than where I had mine. So, today at work I shortened the rod about 1/8 in. Cruisin about 70mph and full throttle, the boost gauge will hit 24-25psi. And does it pull. i roadtest new Z06's for a living. I can tell you, my car pulls. Back to your original question "autossblack", yes there is a very significant difference between the GM upgrade and original. You will love to drive your auto. Thanks
