Just my $.02, I like the AEM dry filter better, its washable and uses no oil. My only time with a K&N was in an 02 V8 Dakota, threw codes and cost me a sensor. So on my last truck I used the AEM BruteForce CAI and had no problems, and it was blown with JBA shorties, high flow cats and true duals. I haven't had to change the filter yet, but when I do I'll go AEM, just the filter. It seems Chevy did a good job with the air intake, so I don't see the value in a new CIA.

Put a K&N in Monday morning, lost boost this morning and threw a CEL. Will check code when I get home and inspect sensor. Suspect it is contaminated. Same thing happened in my Monte Carlo SS, replaced the sensor ($200) and never had another problem. Didn't know you could clean them at the time will try with this one. Have electrical contact cleaner at home but will check the MSDS before using. Saw CRC MAF Cleaner online may see if the local auto store has it. Grrrrrr...

I recently cleaned the one in the HHR for the first time. Had a little over 50K on it. After the cleaning (it was due) no CEL's after and mileage went back up slightly.

the LNF is a very finicky engine/ecu setup...... a simple drop-in K&N filter will allow a good bit amount more air into the turbo (past the MAF) than the factory paper filter, so then the ecu trys to compensate with fuel, throwing the fuel trims off and causing the car to go into what i'd like to call "retarded mode" and throws a CEL. put your factory filter back in and it'll be fine again. in order to run a K&N filter, it's a simple fix....... custom tune.

I have been running a K&N since last summer with zero issues. I like the fact that I can clean it and put it back in, I have ran them in my past few vehicles without issue.

Everyone thinks theres no issue. Like Rally said our computers are worse then prissy little girls and if they dont like something they screw **** up. You might not feel any problems but if anyone would log their STFTs and LTFTs you wouldnt be happy. Jumt my .02

Rally, I have the LNF Turbo Upgrade so I hope that is not the cause but I'm certainly not ruling it out. The code thrown was P0101 MAF Out Of Range, cleaned the MAF with CRC and cleared the code. The CEL had turned itself off before I got home yesterday but I went in and cleared the code in memory anyway. Will see if it throws the code again in the next couple of hundred miles. Thanks everyone!

I put the k&n in and haven't noticed any diff. but it could be why I don't pull over 20lbs with the stg 1 after I bolt on a couple more pieces Intercooler and hot side pipe I'm planning on having Vince fix it.

the GMS1 will help when installing the k&n filter..... BUT, if you have an interceptor gauge.... do a comparison of your STFT's & LTFT's with the stock paper filter vs. k&n filter...... HUGE difference. enough to hurt in the long run, hence why i recommend getting a custom tune.
