K&N Air Intake Kit

Has anyone here gotten just the intake tube from the kit? I've got just the filter but would like the pipe but not for $300

There is another thread on here that deals with the intake kit for the SS. With a quick search you should find it.

There are some different opinions on whether the tube will give you any gains. Its very similar to the stock pipe.

I have the kit - my opinion is that it gives you +10hp (15max) if you have the stage 1 kit, but I can't tell you if that's from the filter, the air box cover or the pipe.

Hope this helps.

I've read thru them but could not find out if the tube is sold separately. Just looking at the pics I just don't see what the cover would do, but the tube appears to be the same size through-out right? If so I figured it would flow alittle better than the stock one.

I do not think they sell it seperatly per that is why they offer the kit.

The numbers KNN post are legit and realistic. Some cars respond better because some intake are that bad. The SS has a pretty good system and the 10 HP is low because there is little to gain in this area.

I also know KNN will not post the numbers till it is tried on each year of the vehicle even if it is the same car with the same intake but just a different year. I work with these guys pretty often and they do not BS their way through things like many other companies with snake oil parts. Cough Tornado Cough!!!!!

While the KNN kit is not cheap they at least back it up and it is a quality part. In the big picture anymore nothing is cheap.

Not much of the cost involved it to offest the testing to get EO numbers to pass the emissions in many states like California and others that require these numbers. These test take time and a lot of money to pass.

So thank a enviromentalist for costing you more money. Sad part is many of these part will make out cars more efficent and we still have to deal with this.
