Need advice on oil service
Ok, I turned the SS in for the 3000 mile service and oil change that my dealer wanted/insisted on. When I made the appointment I stressed, STRESSED, that it was REQUIRED to have Mobil1 oil.
I checked out and the service report stated Mobil1 was used. Drove home and used my motorcycle for the next 4 days to and from work as the weather was nice.
Finally drove the SS about 100 miles and noticed that the coolant was getting to 205 degrees. Had never noticed it getting that high before the service. It would usually settle in at 198 and stay there.
So now I get curios and check the oil. First of all it was a yellowish color and I know that Mobil1 is almost colorless. It was also slightly overfilled above the "bulb" portion of the dipstick.
My first mistake was to drive from the service lane without first checking the oil.
Should I notify the dealer and take it back and possibly make a bad impression? How can I "prove" that it isn't Mobil1 that was installed.
Before the service i had checked the dipstick and the original oil didn't have the color that it does now. I don't want to drive it much more with the wrong oil and overfilled and I don't have time to "F" around for 40 minutes at the dealer arguing about oil.
Should I just replace the oil myself and then, if and when the dealer does another service, just be sure to inspect the oil before leaving?
How would you handle this situation if was your car?

First, know that when you change the oil, it's never going to be clear or colorless as it's impossible to drain the engine dry of the old oil. Usually, what you see on the dip stick after a change is the oil being a very, very light brown.
Second, Mobil 1 IS NOT colorless. Go buy a quart, pour a little in a cup and you will see.
My guess is--and this is just a guess because I've, obviously, not seen your dip stick personally--that you've got no problem and the "yellowish" is more of a yellow-brownish and is normal.

I use Mobil 1 in my 2.4L HHR. I do it myself most times as I have heard of questionable practices at some shops/dealerships. To make money say they use product cheap, but charge for product expensive. The HHR's oil and filter are easy to change and I can do it for less than $30 while the dealer wants $90.
Just watch the DIC oil life number and change it when it says to.

Walmart $25 for 5 qt and all you need
Oil filter $4 or $5
No need to lift up the car and I think it's a 13 mm. Take less than 10 minutes to do. The dealer wanted $120 to do mine LMFAO. Up yours chevy!

Test for synthetic oil
You will need some degreaser called purple power. (sold at most auto parts stores)
You put a little oil on the ground and spray with purple power on it. If it is synthetic it will turn a rich purple. IIf it is conventional oil it will not change color.

As for Mobil 1, which is a good synthetic engine oil, regardless of what the Owner's Manual says, the better choice is M1 10W30 rather than the 5W30. Also, both Walmart and Costco seem to have a consistently low price on Mobil 1 but, sometimes the large, discount auto parts chains will run sales on M1 for short periods that beat Walmart and Costco. It pays to watch their prices.
Now...if you want the best engine oil, regardless of price, for an HHR SS that gets driven hard, you're better off with an ester-based synthetic such as Red Line 10W30. It exceeds even the performance and protecction offered by Mobil 1 but, like any premium product, you pay a substantially higher price for Red Line Oil.
