Snake oil. Save your cash, trifecta makes a 200 budget tune. But could throw your warranty out the window. Depends on dealer. If this was any good, we would all have one.

Trifecta is a brand of aftermarket tunes,, really popular amongst the lnf crowd. You have a few other options as well... Bsr ppc canned tune, GMturbo upgrade(gmtu), or hp
.

The gmtu is the only tune that will not void your warranty, but is also pricey. Not as much as the Bsr tune, but pricey. Think around seven bills, for parts and ecm flash, some have found it cheaper, some more expensive from my own experience I paid just over six
. Btw this has to be done through.the dealership

A bunch of us have stacked tunes as well. Usually HP or trifecta on top of gmtu

Hope this helps

Also, if you start slapping parts on before a tune, the car will pull back any gains from those parts. this has to do with the ecm having a learn down feature built into the coding.
Gmtu supposedly turns this off. Debatable
HP and trifecta either turn it off or maneuver around it.

Thank you very much for the info... wow so much to take in and learn....but this site and just the few I have talked to have already been so very helpful..

So if I am going to get a tune I should put the parts on after, would this include a K&N kit also.?

Depends, it's the what comes first the chicken or the egg.

for instance, to get the most out if say HP. Put all your parts on then tune for those added parts. Or tune, then add parts, then retune.

Supposedly with gmtu, tune first, then add parts. Some people with '09 +'10 swear the learndown doesn't turn off. My '08 has definitely reaped the rewards of added parts and will turn high eights in the 1/8 at around 84-85mph. Really pisses some V8's off on track days when they get chewed up by a four banger fwd wagon.

My experience. Stock 15psi 235hp, gmtu 21 psi 290hp, then I added other parts 24 psi and around 325HP/340+ torque.

Next month gonna take it to Atlanta, gonna get a forum member to add my second round of HP. For.around three bills.

If you end up like me (and foolmoon) and the GM stage 1 just ins't enough, contact Bill Hahn. You will be pushing real HP to the ground. He makes a bolt-on turbo upgrade. By upgrade, I don't mean two new sensors like the GM kit. I mean a bigger turbo, that is bolt on to all stock parts. The tune that comes with it comes from Trifecta also. You will have an economy tune and at the press of your traction control button have an asphalt ripping tune.

I should have the numbers here soon. If it is anything like our sister Cobalts, it should be near 400 whp

Chevy13... Can't wait for these results. I may have to take an extended vacation, and see if Bill will do the install. Next time you see Bill, ask him what the odds are to build a Bull Run HHR. I'll ride with ya! The solstice he built was bad ass!

Nazgul, there are tons of forum members doing all kinds of engine mods. it really depends what you want to do with the car. My ultimate goal is rwd. But that could take years to accomplish. I do know one thing... Unless it gets totaled I'll have it till I'm dead!

My next big mod, is probably a stupid idea and completely useless, but I want a six or eight point cage.
