Ok silly question but.2.4 with 2.0 head turbo?

Ok my 09 SS needs a motor, well a long block

I just picked up a 08 LT with a 2.4 other than some loss in power over the 2.0 could I use the 2.4 block with my 2.0 head and turbo?
I would like to get the SS out driving

Oh the 09 SS is a manual and the 2.4 is auto

I don’t believe the automatic transmission engine will except the 5 speeds input shaft with no provision for a pilot bearing, the 2.4 will work but have weaker connecting rods and crankshaft.
That being said many have installed super charger and turbocharged them with no major issues.

The 2.0 has a 86 mm cylinder bore. The 2.4 has a 88 mm cylinder bore. That would be the 1st problem of why this won't work.
The 2.4 is a higher compression motor than the 2.0 (pretty sure on this) This would be problem #2.
And the list goes on and on.
Find a replacement 2.0. Much less headache in the long run.

Ya I believe that's going the be the option and reality having an under power SS isnt why I bought it.

Thank you guys sometimes I need to hear it from others, even when I know the answer

You'd be foolish to try that. The 2.0 has stronger parts, to better withstand the forces exerted by the turbo.

Brand new, better, complete engine with all sensors, spark plugs, oil filter... For about$2K. At ZZP.

Lots of misinformation on this thread. You could definitely use a 2.4 block and lots of guys do on their 2.1 builds. That being said, most guys run the 2.0 crank for better clutch options. If you have the head and pan off the 2.4, you could put forged pistons and rods in without much hassle. The only issue that you’d come across without swapping the crank, would be that you cant use an F35 iirc. But F23 > F35 any day. By the way, I’m using my original LNF crank and block with an F23 and my car was originally automatic

Misinformation ? Not sure what you mean. We were just stating some problems he would have trying to do a simple swap of heads between the 2.
Sure, if he was looking to do a hugely modified build, it could be done. But, I believe he was just trying to get the SS back running as cheap as possible.

That is my perception of his intent, can he put that 2.4 directly into the SS?
