Stage 1 Info?
Stage 1 Info?
I've been shopping around for Stage 1 (and Stage 2) information.
My baby is an '09 SS with an auto trans.
I already love the performance I get, but I am looking for links and info and the available upgrades. I actually work for NAPA, so economic ideas come really cheap for me and since the Brembos weren't included in my package I am already opting to get some much better quality pieces in place.
I had incredibly bad experiences with the dealer after I got the car and am also looking for any recommendations on dealers/mechanics in the Dallas / Fort Worth area
Thanks in advance!

Get it you will wonder what happened to that meek mild mannered car you started with ,and why dont these tires stick on take off. It's a dramatic change on the auto. Don't even wait I drove one when I was shopping and made my dealer add it into the deal. You will love it !!

2010 ss stage 1
I am new to the HHR but not to hot rodding/street rodding.
I took delivery on my new (left over) 2010 last Monday 2/28/2011. I had a chevy dealer (that I trust) install the stage 1 up grade/boost kit two days later on Wednesday. You will NOT be disappointed in the results. My guess is the HHR will turn high 13's. It is quick/very torquey and with the competitive/launch control system on it is a rocket out of the hole.
I had the HHR on the dyno machine last Friday. 297 hp/357 pounds of torque. As long as a Chevy dealer installs the stage one - the stage 1 stays in warranty the balance of the factory your warranty. Have fun.

Keep in mind when reading dyno numbers it is very difficult to read results from one to another. DIfferent brand dynos and even from dyno to same model dyno can be different. Calibration and even the guy doing the job can effect results.
I find many dyno's read a little high. Sometimes I wonder if the operators want to make people happy with better than expected results. We had one at a cruise night and even a stock Shelby Mustange was 50 HP over Fords number. The other cars were a little high too.
Either way the GM Turbo Upgrade will net you results near the posted numbers at the wheels. You will be happy trust me.
what hyper says is true! you'll get close to the GM posted numbers with the tune. I have the Auto, and it is a huge change in performance! we get almost 50HP, and another 200RPM.
As far as STAGE II.... it officially doesn't exsist. However, back in a thread sometime in 2008 it was discussed, that depending on what you have done to the motor, it could be called stage 2, 3, etc. I've added the GMTU, IC pipes, a By-pass to atmosphere(not a BOV, but kinda), and have HANN's exhaust on the way, then Only one or two more pieces then tune it again. What stage does that put me? Breathing and farting better would probaly qualify as Stage II. ?HHRSouth? is on his way to a Stage III, again if there was such a thing, he just added a larger turbo and tune, to the toys I already have. He will next go with a clutch, and be extreamly happy until he realizes he needs to upgrade the fuelrail and injectors once everything is hooked to the pavement... which will have required all new mounts(he has), bars, springs, and bushings(he has). I guess the point I'm making is we really don't know what everythig is called, we're just doing it.
Enjoy the tune, and the very limited toys available after that
